Why did you get involved with distribution flexibility services?

SMS’s central objective is to deploy capital and assets, including through our battery storage portfolio, to drive the net zero agenda. This means reducing the cost of the wider grid and of renewable energy management. Distribution flexibility services are a sensible, good-value solution to local issues and SMS are proud to support the DSO wherever possible in these mutually beneficial services. Our trading strategy is to have access to every revenue stream available and DSO services are one more string to that bow.

What do you wish you had known before starting the process?

The level of support from the DSO to guide parties through the process. It was a breath of fresh air to go through a new process with good guidance.
