To facilitate accelerated and cheaper connections, UK Power Networks pioneered curtailable-connections using our Active Network Management (ANM) technology. This allows customers to connect to our network and operate without paying for or waiting for reinforcement works subject to being turned down during periods of high network congestion. To execute this turn down, or curtailment, we work our way through the queue in a particular order.
Last In First Out (LIFO) Stacks determine the order in which network users are curtailed to secure the network. This data will provide more transparency around our connections queue, helping current and prospective network users understand and model curtailment.
LIFO stacks are determined based on the date the site applied to connect, with earlier applications getting network priority over more recent ones. As a result, a site’s position in the LIFO stack is a key driver behind its curtailment rate.
